Safran has established with major airlines in China long-term relationships which extends from customer support and service networks of its companies Safran Nacelles,  Safran Landing Systems and Safran Electronics & Defense to close partnership of joint-venture on aero-maintenance.

Customer support and service

More than 25% of civil aircrafts in China, from business jets to A380, are equipped with Safran Nacelles products. Safran Nacelles provides the after-sales support and services to over 200 aircrafts, with a large range of airlines companies as customers, such as Air China, China Eastern, China Southern, Hainan Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines, Tianjin Airlines and Sichuan Airlines.

Safran Landing Systems' wheels and brakes business entered into Chinese market since early 90s' starting with 27 A300 and A310 aircraft operated by China Eastern Airlines, China Northern Airlines and China Northwest Airlines. Today, Safran Landing Systems equip close to 1,200 aircraft such as Airbus A319, A320, A321, A330, A340 and Boeing 737NG and 787. Safran Landing Systems keep increasing their customer portfolio, which comprises of all Airbus operators. On Boeing programs, Safran Landing Systems are now counting new 737NG customers such as Xiamen Airlines, Hebei Airlines, Okay Airways, Donghai Airlines, Kunming Airlines and 9 AIR.

Safran Electronics & Defense's AGS (Analysis Ground Station) is largely used by major airlines in China, such as China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, China Cargo Airlines, China United Airlines, China Ocean Aviation Group, C.A.S.T, Sichuan Airlines, Yto Cargo Airlines, Air Macau (Macau), Mandarin Airlines (Taiwan). The FDIU (Flight Data Interface Unit) and DMU (Data Management Unit) of Safran Electronics & Defense equips also China Eastern, China Southern Airlines and Air China. Sichuan Airlines and Shenzhen Airlines have chosen Safran Electronics & Defense's latest products, FDIMU (Flight Data Interface and Management Unit) and WEFA system (Wireless Extension for ACMS).


Joint-venture on CFM56 engines' MRO

Safran Aircraft Engines and Air China founded together in July 1999 SSAMC (Sichuan Snecma Aero-engine Maintenance Co., Ltd) whose activities cover aero engines overhaul, repair station and on wing support. Since 2010, the shareholders are changed to CFM International (40%) and Air China (60%) and the name of SSAMC is changed to Sichuan Service Aero-engine Maintenance Co. Ltd. The company offers a wide range of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for CFM56-3, CFM56-5B and CFM56-7 engines, and provides all support services for the Air China fleet, encompassing shop visits and on-wing maintenance. The SSAMC shop is certified by the Chinese, European and American aviation authorities, respectively CAAC, EASA and FAA.
